We use silica gel in our gun safe to keep things dry and rust free. We swap it out once a year as a precaution even though it's no where near saturated. I'd out scaled it up you might be able to avoid mold issues during the winter months. It can be refreshed by heating it to 250 degrees for an hour or so and is also very cheap to purchase in bulk.
